South Korea's Chungcheongbuk-do province is planning to reduce the breeding business to stabilize the supply and demand of Korean beef, due to a continuous decline in prices. The average wholesale price of Hanwoo meat in October fell by 11% year-on-year to 18,898 won per kg, according to the Korea Rural Economic Institute. The province aims to reduce artificial insemination by 67% and fertilized egg transfer by 44% in 2023. It will also encourage livestock workers to reduce breeding and provide support for slaughter fees to reduce the number of cows.
