The Spanish agricultural sector has seen a slight decrease in cereal prices as the cereal campaign begins, with a notable exception of a 13 cent increase in corn and a 2.89% drop in durum wheat in Zaragoza. According to the Spanish Cereal and Oilseed Trade Association (Accoe), the average price of corn for the week of May 17-23 was 273.19 euros per ton, a 6.48% increase from the first week of May. Meanwhile, barley, soft wheat, and durum wheat prices have experienced a sudden stop in their upward trend. The prices of proteins and vegetable by-products have also fluctuated, with soybeans being the only one to maintain a lower price than in January, while pulp saw the most significant increase of 115 euros per ton, or +16.28%, throughout the year.
