The Philippine Government's temporary suspension of rice imports for 60 days, starting from 1/9/2025, has significantly impacted Vietnam's rice exports. According to the Customs Department, in September, both the volume and value of rice exports decreased sharply, reaching 467 thousand tons, worth 232 million USD, a decrease of 46.2% in volume and 46.8% in value compared to August. Compared to September 2024, the volume of rice exports decreased by 43.3% and the value decreased by 54.7%. Due to the sharp decline in September, for the first nine months of the year, the volume of rice exports decreased by 2% compared to the same period, reaching 6.8 million tons, with a value decrease of 20% (reaching 3.5 billion USD).
