The data collected until last September reflect that one million cases have been detected in pigs and 39,807 in wild boars. In Europe, the most affected region, in almost three years, 5,206 outbreaks in pigs (642,272 animals) and 24,782 in wild boars (39,265 animals) have been recorded, with losses amounting to 1.5 million pigs. Next is Asia, where 6,464 outbreaks in pigs (316,263 animals) and 109 in wild boars (542 animals) have been located, causing 561,895 deaths in pigs. In Africa, 1,116 outbreaks in pigs have been diagnosed, with 119,011 animals dead or culled, and in the Americas, 65, with 9,412 animals.
