The partial withdrawal of tariffs imposed by the United States against some Brazilian products was celebrated by various sectors. However, the relief does not extend to the machinery and equipment segment. The executive order signed by Donald Trump this Thursday (20) exempted hundreds of items, but left agricultural machinery out. The Brazilian Association of Machinery and Equipment Industry (Abimaq) regrets that the sector was not included, but evaluates the movement of the U.S. government with optimism. “Unfortunately, the machinery and equipment sector was not mentioned in the executive order. But the decision represents a step towards improving relations between the United States and Brazil,” says José Velloso, executive president of the entity. Trump’s decision, despite being positive, still worries the sector.
