Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has expressed satisfaction with the over 50% increase in pulses cultivation area during the ongoing Kharif sowing this year. He emphasized the importance of self-sufficiency in pulse production and urged for collective action towards this goal. The Minister also reiterated the government's commitment to 100% procurement of urad, arhar, and masoor in all states and emphasized the need for raising awareness about pulse cultivation. During a review of the progress of Kharif crops, Chouhan was updated on the monsoon's progress, groundwater situation, and the availability of seeds and fertilisers. He stressed the need for timely fertiliser availability for Kharif and Rabi crops.
