Last week, our team presented at the 33rd International Berry Seminar in Tangier, Morocco, highlighting Morocco's significant rise in the global blueberry market, surpassing Spain in export volume in 2023. The country exports primarily to Spain and the UK, with growing markets in the UAE, Russia, and Canada. Improved export prices in 2024, especially in Hong Kong, UAE, and Saudi Arabia, reflect strategic market expansion. However, the industry faces challenges such as rising production costs due to severe drought and reliance on desalinated water, and a limited domestic market that increases dependence on exports, posing potential vulnerabilities.
