Prices of Bulgarians' favorite foods are rising. The prices of most basic foodstuffs, fruits, and vegetables on the markets in Bulgaria this week continue to rise, according to data from the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets (SCCEM), reported by BTA. The market price index (MPI), which reflects the movement of foodstuff prices wholesale in Bulgaria, increased by 1.96 percent to 2.76 points compared to 2.707 points a week earlier. The base level of the index (1,000 points) is from 2005. Among vegetables, the biggest price increase was for green salad, which went up by 19.76 percent to 0.80 euros per kilogram wholesale. Tomatoes were also significantly more expensive - by 10.71 percent to 3.06 euros per kilogram, green peppers - by 9.65 percent to 3.68 euros per kilogram, and red peppers - by 8.77 percent to 3.40 euros per kilogram.
