Already being transferred: HUF 3 billion in rapid aid is arriving on the accounts of Hungarian pig farmers.

The Ministry of Agriculture has tripled the amount of the small-scale animal welfare subsidy for payment requests submitted in January 2026 and increased the related framework amount by 1.5 billion forints, announced József Viski, the State Secretary for Agricultural and Rural Development Support at the Ministry of Agriculture (AM). The pig fattening animal welfare subsidy is a long-standing and successful program, consisting of two parts: one approved (notified) by the European Commission and the other available as a small-scale subsidy. In order to ensure the highest possible subsidy, the ministry has also introduced an important flexibility rule. This means that if there are remaining funds from the small-scale subsidy framework, they can be used within the framework of the notified program, thereby maximizing the amount reaching the farmers.
