Amazonas: Collaborating with coffee growers from Ocumal to improve production

With the aim of understanding the productive conditions of coffee in the Amazonas region and strengthening the bond with local producers, the Genetics and Genetic Improvement Program of the National University Toribio Rodríguez de Mendoza of Amazonas carried out a reconnaissance visit to the Vista Hermosa annex, Ocumal district. This activity allowed for a first direct approach with coffee growers in the area, identifying their main needs and productive potential. During the event, opportunities for joint work and the execution of research activities aimed at improving production, raising the quality of coffee, and promoting more sustainable production systems were identified. Coffee represents one of the most important crops for the economy of the Amazonas region, being a source of income for numerous rural families.
