The sales of mushroom harvest in the United States for the 2020/21 season saw a 7% decrease from the previous season, totaling 344 million kilos and a turnover of € 892.7 million. The average market price per pound of mushrooms, mainly Agaricus, decreased by 1 cent to €1.18. Pennsylvania and California led in sales, contributing 64% and 13% respectively. Chestnut mushrooms saw a 2% increase in sales, accounting for 26% of the volume and 30% of the value. Fresh mushroom sales decreased by 9%, while processed product sales rose by 20%. The estimated area for the 2021/22 season is 1,085 hectares, marking an 11% decrease from the previous season.
