Turkey's banana production in Mersin has seen growth with the help of subsidized agricultural credit and greenhouse production, resulting in the registration of the 'Anamur banana' as a registered product. This geographically and microclimate-specific banana is grown in greenhouses, and producers want continued high tax rates on imports and state support. The Ministry of Commerce is closely monitoring the situation, as banana production has extended from 4-5 months to 12 months thanks to advancements in technology. The writer of the article, Gümüş, has called on the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to include bananas in the basin system, crediting the state for the development of greenhouses.
