Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd have both suspended shipments through the Red Sea due to attacks on civilian ships by Houthi rebels in Yemen. The delay in freight deliveries may reach up to 20 days, causing problems for fruit and vegetable exporters and importers, especially in the Middle East markets. Ukrainian, Polish, Italian, and Moldovan apple exporters will face supply problems, while those from Iran, India, and the UAE may have an advantage. There may also be issues with importing certain products from India, Kenya, South Africa, and Israel.
