Applications for the EU Trade Delegation to Japan are open until 9 February

The European Commissioner for Agriculture and Food, Mr Christoph Hansen, plans to carry out his first high-level mission to Japan from 8 to 13 June 2025, coinciding with the EU's participation in the Osaka World Expo. The visit will include meetings with key political figures, including the Japanese Minister of Agriculture, to discuss issues such as sanitary and phytosanitary barriers to trade, the promotion of geographical indications and organic products, and the implementation of the EU-Japan Free Trade Agreement. The visit will also focus on establishing business contacts between European and Japanese companies in the agri-food sector and, in this regard, the Commissioner plans to be accompanied by a delegation of up to 100 senior representatives of European companies specialising in key sectors such as meat, dairy, wine, olive oil, fruit and vegetables - in particular SMEs with a proven export capacity, as well as national producer associations.
