Asaja de Castilla y León today valued that, “after years of claims,” the Government is providing means to strengthen the penalty for thefts in agricultural and livestock farms and to stop recidivism. This is reflected in Organic Law 1/2026, of April 8, in force since last Friday, which modifies the treatment that was previously given to these crimes in the Penal Code and the Criminal Procedure Law and which introduces changes applicable to the reality of the countryside of Castilla y León, which “has been suffering year after year the consequences of repeated crime on agricultural and livestock farms.” The main change for the agricultural sector of Castilla y León, explain from Asaja in a statement, is the reform of article 235.1.4º of the Penal Code.
