The Association of Winegrowers and Winemakers of Russia is urging the government to impose a 200% tariff on wines from NATO countries and to mandate a 20% quota of Russian-produced wines on restaurant menus, which they hope to increase to 50% in the future. They also want half of the wine offered in cafes to be Russian from September 1. This comes after the Russian Ministry of Economy already raised import tariffs for wine from 'unfriendly' countries from 12.5% to 20%, with a minimum of $1.5 per liter, a policy that will be in place until the end of 2024.
