Australia has culled hundreds of thousands of yearlings and chickens due to bird flu outbreaks in southeast farms. The first case was discovered in Terang, Victoria, leading to preventive measures across other farms. The outbreak has sparked concerns, especially with the global spread of the H5N1 strain, although no such strains have been found in Australia. The country's chief veterinarian has declared that eggs and poultry products are safe to consume and that human transmission is rare. This situation has caused a decline in the share prices of major Australian poultry companies, Inghams Group and Collins Foods.
