A recent survey by Embrapa's Pig and Poultry Intelligence Center has found a notable decrease in the cost of live pig production in Brazil's South region in January. The average cost per live pig fell significantly, by 12.6% from December and 6.7% year-on-year, now standing at R$6.96. This decrease is attributed to modifications in calculation parameters. Despite this, the profit margin remains tight as the sale price of live pigs in the region remains lower than the production costs.
