A recent survey by Embrapa's Pig and Poultry Intelligence Center has indicated a slight increase of around 1% in the cost of live pig production in Brazil's South region in February, with the average cost per live pig being R$7.02. This increase follows a significant reduction in the cost of breeding pigs by 10% to 12% in January, due to changes in calculation methods. Despite this, pig farmers continue to sell barley at prices below the production cost, contributing to high overall costs for pig farmers.
