The average potato yields in the EU decrease by 3%

In relation to the data recently offered by the European Commission, the average yield of potato cultivation, in the European Union, during the 2023 collection campaign has stood at 34,400 kilograms per hectare, a figure that is 3% below from the previous one when they were 35,300 and 1% above the value registered in the last five years, which stood at 34,100 kg. Germany, one of the main producers in the EU, presents an average, in the current campaign, of 41,600 kg, growing 3% over the statistics of the last five years that speak of 40,300 and 4% if measured with the 2022 when German farmers obtained, on average, 40,100 kilos per hectare. As regards France, a direct competitor of Spain in this market, the average for the 2023 campaign greatly improves that of the previous one since the 39,900 kilos of the current starts are 5% better than those of 2022 (38,000 kg). although lower (-1%) than the figures of the previous five-year period when 40,400 kilos were reached.
