Azerbaijan has become a leader in the import of grain from the Russian region

In 2022, Azerbaijan imported 375 thousand tons of grain from the Stavropol Territory of Russia and thus became the number one importer from this region, according to a report by the North Caucasus Interregional Department of Rosselkhoznadzor. Despite the fact that last year most of the grain (corn, wheat, peas, barley, oats, millet) was sent to Azerbaijan, the supply of products to the country as a whole decreased by 24%, the document says.
According to the report, the volume of grain supplies from the Stavropol Territory to European countries has noticeably decreased. Mustard and chickpea exports to Germany have more than halved to 416 tons in 2022 compared to 888 tons in 2021. Deliveries to Latvia decreased to 192 tons in 2022 (2166 tons in 2021). At the same time, the countries of the Middle East are increasing the volume of purchases of Stavropol products.
