EU agri-food exports dropped by 11% in January 2021, totaling 13.5 billion euros, and imports decreased by 16% to 9.1 billion euros. The trade surplus for January 2021 was 4,400 million euros, an increase of 3.6% year-over-year. Exports to the UK, USA, Russia, Japan, and Saudi Arabia saw a decrease, while exports to China increased by 146 million euros. Imports from the UK, Argentina, the USA, and Indonesia decreased, but imports from Malaysia, India, Brazil, and Nigeria increased. The value of pet food exports grew by € 17 million, while wine, baby food, and chocolate and confectionery exports saw a decrease.
