In the first quarter of 2024, Russia experienced a 10% increase in banana imports, reaching 424.4 thousand tons compared to the previous year's 394.3 thousand tons. According to Rosselkhoznadzor, there are no issues with banana supply, and no import restrictions are in place. Retail chains in Russia have ample banana stocks, supported by long-term contracts with suppliers, leading to a decrease in banana prices. Over the past four years, bananas have consistently been Russia's top imported fruit in both value and volume. The report also highlights the potential for increased banana supplies from countries such as India, Guatemala, the Philippines, Colombia, and Costa Rica.
