Severe weather conditions, including heavy rain and intense winds, have caused significant damage to banana plantations in Vale do Ribeira, São Paulo, particularly in Sete Barras. This has led to a decrease in banana supply, affecting the fruit's market. However, producers with good quality fruits have seen an increase in prices, with top quality nanica selling for an average of R$3.90/kg, a 13% increase from the previous week. The supply of São Paulo bananas is expected to remain low in the coming weeks due to the estimated 2,000 hectares affected by the wind, including at least 500 hectares of banana plantations.
