Brazilian banana exports saw a decrease in 2022 with a 44% drop to the European Union and a 16% decrease to Mercosur, totaling 84,500 tons and 73.9 thousand tons respectively. This decline was due to a low national supply of nanica, caused by climate impacts and reduced cultural practices due to high costs. Despite the decrease in volume, revenue from exports to Mercosur increased by 14% due to increased average prices resulting from the overall low supply in the bloc.
