Indonesia: Barriers to implementing halal certification for beef and broiler chicken

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia- Secretary General of the DPP of the All Indonesian Market Traders Association (APPSI), Mujibburohman, confirmed traders' readiness to implement the halal product guarantee rules in PP 39/2021. However, traders hope that the socialization of mandatory halal regulations will be expanded considering that currently a number of market traders have followed MUI halal guidance even though they do not yet have certification. Meanwhile, the Main Director of LPPOM MUI, Muti Arintawati, said that the implementation of mandatory halal certification/labeling rules for food and beverage products; raw materials, food additives as well as products and slaughtering services will continue to be implemented in October 2024.
