Belgium: The lowest number of pigs slaughtered in the last 30 years

In Belgium, a little less than 310 million heads of animals were slaughtered last year, which represents a decrease of 2% compared to 2021, according to data from the Belgian Statistical Institute Statbel. The number of pigs slaughtered in Belgium dropped by almost 10% in 2022 to 10.5 million, a level not seen in 30 years. This is one million fewer pigs than the 11.6 million slaughtered in 2021.
