New data from HMRC shows a 12% increase in the total volume of sheep meat exported from Wales, reaching nearly 30,500 tonnes with a total value of £190.9 million, a 10% increase. This rise was largely due to increased shipments to the EU, particularly Italy, which saw a nearly 40% increase in volumes. Overall, the total value of red meat exports from Wales in 2023 was £267.9 million, a 4.1% increase from 2022, while the total volume was almost 48,500 tonnes. However, the total value of beef exports decreased by 8% to £77.1 million.
