The Legislative Assembly approved this Tuesday (2) Bill 472/2025, forwarded by the State government, which authorizes the use of resources from the Rice Cultivation Cooperation and Defense Tax (Taxa CDO), administered by the Rio Grandense Rice Institute (Irga), in programs, projects, and actions aimed at strengthening the rice production chain in Rio Grande do Sul. The measure amends Law 13.697/2011, which updated the Irga Statute originally established by Law 533/1948. According to the approved text, the objective is to expand the application of the Taxa CDO resources, transferred in full to the institute since the beginning of 2025, in a way that supports initiatives that directly assist producers in facing the economic pressures of the sector.
