Poland: Blackcurrants prices are up but after harvest

After weeks of announcements of low demand and low purchase prices in the season, the situation has changed somewhat. The demand and prices of blackcurrants have increased in an almost "miraculous" way. This season was not successful for blackcurrant growers. Long before it started, processors announced that they were selling frozen foods at a loss. The demand for their product at high prices has significantly slowed down. Therefore, the demand for raw material from the 2023 harvest was also supposed to be low. That's how it was until last week. Prices for blackcurrant in purchases fell even to PLN 1.30 / kg. As a result of frost and drought, the harvest this year was even lower than before the season. However, it turns out that the demand has clearly improved.
