The Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development (Sader) has announced that, in 2023 and 2024, a total of 7,307 tons of bluefin tuna can be caught in federal ocean jurisdiction waters, without exceeding 4,068 tons annually. This measure aims to help recover the population of bluefin tuna in the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Association (CIAT) area. The regulations will apply to permit holders and operators of Mexican vessels authorized to catch bluefin tuna.
