Boeun County in North Chungcheong Province plans to establish a specialized smart orchard complex next year. The county recently announced that it has been selected for a public bidding project by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. The "Specialized Smart Orchard Complex Establishment Project" aims to build a future-oriented fruit farming industry infrastructure in response to climate change and an aging population. This is the first time Boeun County is implementing such a project in North Chungcheong Province. A total project cost of 49 billion won (15 billion won in national funds, 15 billion won in local funds, and 19 billion won in self-funding) will be invested over three years starting next year. Through this project, apple orchards with simplified structures in two-axis and multi-axis forms will be established. Additionally, the project will update to internally resistant varieties and prepare facilities to respond to natural disasters such as hail, frost, and heatwaves.
