Boeun County steps up efforts to promote new variety 'Taedong Date'

The Boeun County in Chungbuk has begun testing a new jujube variety called "Taedong." The county recently held an evaluation meeting and a tasting event for the Taedong jujube demonstration project in Suhan-myeon. "Taedong" is a new jujube variety developed by Mr. Yoon Tae-dong from Samsan-ri, Boeun-eup. The fruit weight is 27.5g, which is larger than the 18.5g of the existing Bokjo variety, which is widely cultivated in Boeun County. The average sugar content is also 30.5 Brix, higher than the 27.6 Brix of Bokjo. Both the size and sugar content are superior. The texture is also crisp and firm, allowing for sufficient differentiation. About 100 farmers who attended the evaluation meeting tasted the freshly harvested fruits and shared their opinions on quality and storage.
