(Boseong=Yonhap News) Reporter Yeo Un-chang = 'Boseong Green Tea' drew attention as a dessert at the 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Korea-China leaders' dinner held in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk, on the 1st.
According to Boseong County on the 5th, the dinner showcased Korea's three-color plum fruit and three-color fruit in commemoration of the 33rd anniversary of Korea-China diplomatic relations.
Boseong Green Tea was served alongside jimakgu, a Chinese-style rice cake dessert.
Boseong Green Tea, registered as the first agricultural product with a geographical indication, was the only regional brand with its name indicated on the menu, drawing attention.
It is cultivated under strict quality control through eco-friendly certification, in a naturally fertile environment above underground bedrock layers, with frequent fog.
Its various benefits, including anti-cancer effects, skin moisturizing, and anti-aging, became a topic of discussion on the internet following the dinner, according to Boseong County.
County head Kim Cheol-woo said, "Boseong has established itself as a traditional tea-growing region in South Korea, recorded as a tea-growing area in the Dongguk Yeji Seungram, and continues to be renowned as a famous tea that was once offered to the royal family. It is very meaningful that its status has been recognized again through the APEC summit."
He continued, "I recently visited Shizuoka, Japan, to benchmark for the high-end and global development of the 'Boseong Matcha' industry. We will strengthen support for Boseong matcha production to enhance competitiveness in the global tea market."
