A farm in Montelíbano, Colombia, has found the brangus breed to be highly adaptable and productive for meat production in the humid low tropics. The farm, which has been breeding the species for eight years, imported genetics from Argentina and also works with national herds for embryo implantation in Brangus Montecarlo and R2 Montecarlo. The animals are selected for reproductive capacity and efficiency, and the farm uses Fixed Time Artificial Insemination (IATF) and manages paddocks to reduce intercalving intervals and increase weaning weights. The Angus and Brangus breeds are valued for their meat quality and demand in Colombia.
