The Brazilian Association of Corn and Sorghum Producers (Abramilho) announced that the necessary phytosanitary protocol for exporting Brazilian sorghum to China is nearing completion, with expectations to finalize by November, during Chinese President Xi Jinping's official visit to Brazil. A mission from the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture will visit China to discuss market opening and conduct a sanitary assessment. The president of Abramilho emphasized that new markets are crucial for sorghum production growth in Brazil, as the country produces approximately 5 million tons annually. Additionally, sorghum is used in the production of biofuel and animal feed, and is seen as a viable alternative crop due to its resilience.
