Brazil: Pig farming continues to grow and enhance domestic consumption

Brazilian pig farming continues to solidify its relevance in the national agribusiness and in the global trade of animal protein. In recognition of the strategic role of producers in this process, the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), along with the entire production chain, celebrated on July 24th, the Pig Farmer's Day — a date that honors the professionals responsible for the production of pork in the country. In 2024, the national production of pork reached 5.305 million tons, a volume 3% higher than the previous year. The growth was driven by domestic market demand and the maintenance of the pace of exports. Brazil remained the fourth largest global producer and the leader among exporters free of African Swine Fever. Domestic consumption has been one of the main growth vectors of the activity.
