China has approved the import of Brazilian table grapes, making the country the fourth-largest producer and the fourth-largest exporter of the product, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service. The approval allows grapes from Pernambuco and Bahia to be imported, but vineyards and facilities must register and be approved by China's General Administration of Customs to export. The grapes will be inspected for nine quarantine pests and must undergo cold treatment to eliminate fruit flies.
