Brazil has seen a significant decrease in rice exports in the first two months of 2024, with a drop of 24% compared to the same period in 2023, as reported by the Brazilian Rice Industry Association (Abiarroz). This decline, linked to increased domestic rice prices, has led to a reduction in foreign exchange revenue from US$74.5 million to US$60.8 million. Concurrently, there has been a 48% surge in rice imports, totaling 339.4 thousand tons of cereal.
