In Khanh Hoa province, Vietnam, innovative seaweed farming models have been successfully integrated with tourism, as highlighted by Mr. Nguyen Quang Duy of DT Khanh Hoa Seaweed Joint Stock Company. This initiative not only aims to elevate Vietnamese seaweed on the global market through technological investments and sustainable practices but also improves local farmers' livelihoods by repurposing abandoned ponds for seaweed cultivation. With an industry spanning 16,500 hectares and producing 150,000 tons annually, including sea grapes which are particularly popular in markets like the US and Korea, this approach has significantly boosted farmers' incomes and contributed to the tourism sector. The focus on clean, green production and the strategic promotion of products both internationally and domestically aims to enhance profitability while promoting environmental sustainability.
