In the first eight months of this year, Cambodia experienced a significant surge in agricultural exports, with a 89.68% increase compared to the same period in 2020, totaling 5.54 million tons. The majority of these exports were directed to Vietnam, with rice products and fresh cassava roots seeing the most substantial increases. Other key exports included cashew nuts, pepper, green beans, soybeans, corn, and various fruit products. This growth is attributed to Cambodia's strong agricultural sector and high yielding, quality produce, positioning the country as a competitive force in the Southeast Asian market. Notably, Cambodia's pepper production per hectare outpaces Vietnam's, with 95% of the annual harvest being for export to Vietnam and Thailand. The country is also bolstering its market presence by promoting high-quality agricultural products, especially fruits, in China, Thailand, and the Philippines.
