Canada has increased by 1.7% potatoes in storage

As of March 1, 2023, Canadian potato storage has seen a slight increase of 1.7% from the previous year and is nearly 6% above the three-year average. In February 2023, 10.1 million cwt (505,000 tonnes) of potatoes were removed from storage, marking a decrease from the previous month but a 22% increase compared to pre-date figures. While potato shipments saw a decrease in February in all provinces except Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick, these two provinces traded more processing potatoes and Quebec and Alberta traded a large volume of seed potatoes.
