The PEI potato industry is showing signs of recovery after the detection of potato wart in two fields in 2021. Greg Donald, a representative of the industry, is optimistic about the future due to scientific evidence and positive updates from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). The CFIA has conducted nearly 50,000 tests for potato wart, with no new cases found in PEI. The PEI Potato Board is hopeful that new guidelines will allow for the resumption of seed exports, which have been halted since November 2021.
