Ceará, the largest cashew producer in Brazil, is currently in the harvest season for the fruit. The state has 380 thousand hectares dedicated to the plant and has adopted the precocious dwarf type, which is more productive and accounts for 30% of the planted area. Farmers are also making various products from cashews to increase income. One property uses 80% of its harvest to make cajuína, a popular local dish, which contributes significantly to the family's income. The remaining cashews are used for sweet, juice, and pulp.
