The Vietnam International Cashew Conference 2024 discussed the issue of falling cashew kernel prices, from 9 USD/kg in 2018 to 5.8 USD/kg in 2023, due to an oversupply of raw cashew nuts, especially from Africa. This has resulted in processing costs exceeding selling prices, causing losses for businesses. Despite this, global cashew kernel consumption and Vietnam's cashew exports are on the rise. Experts suggest businesses should strategically time their purchases of raw materials and sales of cashew kernels, and consider reducing or slowing down purchases of raw cashew nuts to stabilize the market.
