Last Thursday (15), the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) confirmed the first outbreak of the quarantine pest cassava witches' broom in Pará. The case was disclosed by the ministry this week. The occurrence was recorded in the Indigenous Land of Tumucumaque Park, located in the extreme north of the municipality of Almeirim, near the border with Suriname. The inspection was carried out on April 28 by technicians from the Superintendence of Agriculture and Livestock of Amapá (SFA/AP) and the Agency of Agricultural Defense and Inspection of the State of Amapá (Diagro), after receiving a complaint. The plants with suspicious symptoms were located in Bona Village, within the Indigenous Land of Tumucumaque Park. Two samples of plant material were collected and sent for analysis at the Federal Agricultural Defense Laboratory in Goiás (LFDA/GO).
