Cattle: Record price of cattle makes the exchange rate the best in 12 months

Current record real trading price levels for the arroba of fat cattle are ensuring improvement in the accounts of the terminating cattle farmer, even with the calf constantly appreciating in value. In the partial month of April, the amount of arrobas needed to buy a calf was the lowest in 12 months. In April (up to the 14th), the CEPEA/ESALQ (São Paulo State) Fat Cattle Indicator records an average of R$ 363.82, up 13% from January and 14% from April 2025, in real terms (the monthly series was deflated by the IGP-DI of March 2026). Researchers from CEPRA emphasize that the current monthly average is slightly below (a difference of just R$ 1.00) the record registered in November 2011, when the arroba reached an average of R$ 364.82.
