In 2022, the live cattle trade in the departments of Sucre and Córdoba experienced improved trade indicators compared to 2021, with increased supply and record-high prices for producers. The supply of first-class live cattle rose by 14.7% to 440,541 animals, and the real price for fattening, pre-baiting, and fat female cattle surpassed previous levels. However, a decline in real prices started in June, influenced by factors such as excessive rainfall, uncertain government policies, and increased relative cost of animal feed. The northern cattle-raising region of Colombia also saw a 5.6% increase in the supply of first-class animals in 2022, totaling 912,113.
