Turkey: Certified chickpea seeds meet the soil in Çorum

Certified chickpea seeds distributed by the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry are planted in Çorum, the city famous for its chickpeas in Turkey. 170 tons of certified chickpea seeds were given to 1,000 farmers in the city by the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry with a 75 percent grant support. When the weather conditions become suitable, the farmers, who enter their fields, bring the chickpea seeds to the soil. Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Orhan Sarı told Anadolu Agency (AA) that Çorum is one of the important chickpea production centers in Turkey due to its chickpea production. Stating that they provided 250 tons of certified chickpea seeds support to farmers in Çorum last year, Sarı said, "Çorum means roasted chickpea. Chickpea means chickpea.
