The article reports on the decrease in the reference value for milk in Paraná, Brazil, due to the falling price of cheese, especially mozzarella, in February. The Milk Producers / Industries Council approved a decrease in the projected reference value for standard milk delivered in February to R $ 1.5765, a 5.9% drop. The consolidated reference value for milk delivered in January and paid in February also decreased by 9.1%. This price drop is attributed to the significant fall in mozzarella prices, which had made up 44% of dairy product sales in Paraná in February. Prices for other dairy products and UHT milk also experienced a decline, while fats saw a slight appreciation. This situation is attributed to high production costs and reduced consumption.
